Since the fundamental theory of terminal sliding mode control was developed in 1990s, the terminal sliding mode control technique has been widely used and developed by researchers in control area. In this talk, the concept of the terminal attractor is first introduced, and the terminal sliding mode control schemes with applications to both linear and nonlinear systems, developed in recent years, are then reviewed. In order to promote the research in terminal sliding mode control area, some open problems in this area are addressed. Several simulation results are also presented in support of the theoretical analysis.
