Engineering Seminar Series 16/1_2010: Solar Absorption Chiller

Ir. Chan Jian Wen, MASHRAE

Date: 2010-10-06
Time: 17:30 to 18:30
Venue: LT 5-0-01

You may have tried very hard to reduce the solar heat gain into your building design. However, without increasing the building energy intensity, the best way to remove the heat is to use solar energy. With advanced development of the solar panel technologies, the solar cooling system becomes both technical and commercial viable. A solution is to adopt evacuated tube collectors to harvest solar energy for cooling application. This is the solar absorption chiller concept – utilizing solar heat to generate a cold environment.
