Student Leadership Development Programme: 2nd Semester 2012

“Leadership in a Technological Environment Programme” implemented in Australia by Monash University has creatively and substantially demonstrated its success in developing additional leadership, communication and industry skills among Engineering students. The Programme, a joint initiative by the Faculty of Engineering and the industries will help their future careers and lives. It extends and challenges talented students.
The School of Engineering is now intending to offer a similar programme to engineering students who are pursuing their undergraduate studies at Monash University Sunway Campus. The programme will be open to students who have completed the second year engineering studies. The 10-20 top students selected will be exposed to a series of structured leadership development modules encompassing nine modules. The workshop leaders comprising of leading industry practitioners from established organisations, will share with students the latest practices and trends in the marketplace. Some of the modules may include:-
What is leadership?
Communications for leadership
Critical thinking and problem solving
Ethics
Sustainability
People skills
Innovation and entrepreneurship
Globalization
Change management
The modules, which are to be conducted in the evenings, are expected to complete within one (1) year. Each workshop session will take about three (3) hours. We welcome industry engagement in this joint programme in the following areas:
Provide expert speakers to deliver one or more modules in the programme.
Support monetary support in hiring expert speakers, to deliver one or more modules.
Provide work placement opportunities to the students who undergo this programme.
Sponsor the students through providing tuition fee scholarship and/or living expenses.
Provide guest speakers or panel members for one or more modules of the programme.
Accommodate our students for site visits.
